The Tuna Atlas allows an Interactive Querying and Displaying of Tuna and Billfish Catches that allows the user to select the tuna species, the type of gears and the year's quarters to compute dynamic statistics of the catches around the world. The statistical generated map is fully dynamic, and represents on a 5x5 degrees grid the light map of the catches values. Generated maps are then displayed via GeoServer using complex styles (Google Charts based styles too).

The Fisheries Department from FAO, needed an efficient way to manage and disseminate it's worldwide dataset of fishery boundaries and marine species distribution. Using GeoServer and OpenLayers, GeoSolutions built a complete Javascript API that simplifies the creation of maps with relevant information. The demo site built as a reference implementation also doubles as a data catalog for the department.

GeoSolutions has developed an infrastructure for allowing the storage, management and visualization of scientific measurements collected at sea by various instruments and sensors (e.g. ocean profiles). Data is ingested into PostGIS using GeoBatch and served using the GeoServer through a rich UI in order to be able to view the data as well as to extract it for subsequent analytical studies. Export to KML is available with support for temporal animations and visualization of data under the sea surface.

RUOTA is an ITS (Intelligent Transportation System) for tracking vehicles and parcels/materials in order to improve stocks security and delivery as well as to mitigate urban traffic congestion. GeoSolutions has developed RUOTA, an LBS framework able to ingest, manage and retrieve real time location information. The framework provides advanced tools like geocoding and reverse geocoding, routing and also geospatial statistics in order to estimate traffic conditions and optimize vehicles routes.

The Dynamic Queries interface combines the power of Geotools with an Enterprise Service Bus (ESB) to manage complex geometric computations on very big datasets. The DQ interface performs union, intersection and masking between any of the geographic queries, either started by an operator or using a scheduler and provides XML, CSV and RDF Semantic output.

Image I/O-Ext is an Open Source project which aims to build an extensible framework for providing high performance raster data access capabilities for the Java programming language with a particular focus on geospatial and image processing applications. Image I/O-Ext is built upon the Java Sun’s Image I/O Architecture which provides a pluggable architecture for performing data access (read/write operations) as well as metadata retrieval and management.

GeoSolutions has been contracted in order to develop an infrastructure for managing data from NURC's MUSCLE system, an AUV (Autonomous Underwater Vehicle) equipped with a Synthetic Aperture Sonar (SAS) in order to scan the sea bed and perform Automatic Target Recognition. Data is acquired in raw Matlab MATFile format, preprocessed via GeoBatch and ingested into GeoServer. A portal based on LifeRay is being developed in order to provide a rich UI.
